Associated with BIOVISION 2047–BIORISE, the International Conference on Biological Research, Innovation, Security and Empowerment, this Special Issue of Gene Expression focuses on the molecular mechanisms that control gene expression and gene regulation in human biology, health, and disease. It welcomes innovative and multidisciplinary research examining how genomic information is transcribed, processed, translated, and regulated, and how dysregulation of these processes contributes to human development, physiology, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic responses. Contributions addressing Functional Genomics, Epigenetics, Transcriptional and Post-Transcriptional Regulation, Noncoding RNAs, Chromatin Biology, Gene-Regulatory Networks, Genome Engineering, and CRISPR-based technologies are particularly encouraged.

The Special Issue also welcomes studies integrating Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, and Multi-Omics approaches to identify regulatory pathways, molecular interactions, biomarkers, and disease-associated gene-expression signatures. Research on cell biology, molecular signaling, and host–pathogen interactions is encouraged when it provides clear mechanistic insights into gene expression or gene regulation in human cells, tissues, health, and disease.

Translational and application-oriented contributions are invited in areas such as molecular diagnostics, precision medicine, therapeutic development, drug discovery, and pharmacogenomics, provided they are grounded in gene-expression or gene-regulatory mechanisms. Studies of natural products and other therapeutic interventions are also welcome when supported by robust molecular evidence demonstrating effects on gene expression, epigenetic regulation, signaling pathways, or related regulatory processes relevant to human health and disease.
The Special Issue will provide a platform for original research, reviews, and emerging perspectives that connect fundamental and computational studies of gene regulation with clinically relevant questions. Contributions should have a clear and substantive connection to gene expression or gene regulation, with a focus on human biology, human health, or human disease, and must comply with the scope of Gene Expression.
