The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is now a global pandemic, but a huge knowledge gap remains about the effects of this novel virus on the human body. Current measures against COVID-19 focus on prevention, but advances in diagnostics, treatments and drugs are needed to fight the virus.

For this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and scientists to submit high-quality scientific manuscripts regarding COVID-19. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Adjunctive treatment strategies 
  • Antiviral therapies 
  • Clinical trials 
  • Diagnosis tests 
  • Drug development 
  • Drug safety 
  • Therapeutic targets 
  • Vaccine development 

Authors should refer to the Instructions for Authors  in preparing  the manuscript and kindly submit it through the Online Submission System directly.

Priority will be given with the same high standards of peer review and publication process for these articles. To help fight the epidemic, authors publishing papers regarding COVID-19 will not be charged any fees, and all publications will open free access to all readers. We guarantee that all accepted papers related to COVID-19 will be highlighted in a special section on our website.

Karol Wróblewski, M.D., D.M.

Karol Wróblewski holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences and works as an Assistant Professor at the University of Rzeszów, Poland. His research interests cover various areas of medical and pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmacology and toxicology, pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis, chromatographic method development, drug development, clinical trials, and nicotine addiction treatment. His scientific activity has been reported in papers published in international journals as well as presentations at international and national conferences. Dr. Karol Wróblewski is a member of the editorial boards of various scientific journals and serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals.



Talha Bin Emran, M.D., D.M.

Dr. Talha Bin Emran has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the BGC Trust University Bangladesh. Dr. Emran has B.Sc.honors and M.S. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Chittagong as well as a PhD from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kanazawa University, Japan. Dr. Emran has published more than 50 research and review papers in reputed international and national journals. He has presented his research activities in many seminars and conferences. His research is based on phytochemistry, medicinal chemistry, immunology, oncology, and bioinformatics. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Education, India (FAGE) and was a fellow of the Ministry of Science, Information & Communication Technology (MOSICT) in the session 2011–2012 for his MS thesis. The aim of his research is to develop novel vaccine candidates against infectious diseases such as malaria, and his work has been recognized as outstanding among domestic pharmaceutical institutes. He is also focusing on the biology of malaria parasites, basic research in infectious diseases and molecular immunology, and clinical outputs such as vaccine development and innovative drug development. His long-term goal is to develop more highly effective next-generation vaccines against malaria.
