The ultimate goal of gastrointestinal research is to develop advanced methods for the diagnosis and treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory, functional, and cancerous diseases. Translational research and science play a pivotal role in bringing basic medical research concepts and methods to clinical practice, which requires multidisciplinary research, collaboration, and communication.1 To provide such a platform with the highest standards, we are poised to launch a new periodical, the Journal of Translational Gastroenterology (JTG). This new publication promises to fill a long-standing void in the realm of gastrointestinal research and clinical care, emphasizing the critical importance of translational gastroenterology. Translational gastroenterology is the vital bridge that links pioneering scientific research to the delivery of efficient and innovative healthcare solutions. It represents a seamless, bidirectional flow of novel findings from the bench to the bedside and back-crisscrossing between hypothesis-driven breakthrough basic research and patient- or disease-oriented clinical studies. The launch of JTG channels the heart of this medical revolution on an open and rapidly accessible platform.

The model of open access is the key to disseminating medical discoveries rapidly and widely. Advancements in medical research should not be hampered by barriers to access or high subscription costs. We believe that knowledge flourishes in universally accessible platforms, where the flow of information is not constricted by financial impediments or geographical boundaries. Thus, every research contribution featured in JTG will be free to read, download, and share, allowing the widest implementation of discoveries at the earliest juncture.

JTG also aims to foster robust academic discourse through rapid communication channels. To the benefit of our global readership and contribution pool as well as experienced editorial staff members, we will expedite peer-review and publication processes, especially for pivotal clinical trials and novel translational findings, ensuring efficient publications of vital findings. Innovations in gastroenterology are time sensitive; therefore, providing fast-tracked support to report these breakthroughs is our commitment.

Championing an editorial board enriched by international leaders in gastroenterology and translational research, JTG promises to hold the highest standards of scientific rigor and ethical scrutiny. The journal will be the home for innovative gastrointestinal research, critical reviews, enlightening clinical and translational studies, and thought-provoking commentary, all within the field of translational gastroenterology.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we heartfeltly extend an invitation for researchers, scholars, and clinicians to contribute original works, clinical and translational studies, thoughtful perspectives, and timely systematic/expert reviews. We aim to establish a conducive forum to promote research and contributions in translational gastroenterology for both seasoned investigators and early-career researchers.

Let this be an open call-for researchers, physicians, and health professionals-to take part in this exhilarating journey. Inspired by the success of our sister journal, Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology,2 together, we will make the Journal of Translational Gastroenterology a leading light in the field, shining the path to the understanding and treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders. With the strongest commitment to rapid communication and the highest standards in peer review, we welcome you to join us in this exciting endeavor.
